Dog Care - “The dog is man’s best friend,” so the saying goes. Dogs have proven to be loving and loyal companions of people. From pit bulls to dachshunds to terriers, dogs are a part of daily life.

However, when you first become the proud owner of your first dog how much do you know about looking after it? There are a whole host of aspects to dog ownership that you will have to learn about.

First of all there is the dogs diet, what should you feed your pet? Dry or canned dog food, home made or commercial?   What vitamins and supplements should you give your dog? Fortunately there is plenty of advice available for the new dog owner in the form of books, articles, web sites and blogs.

Possibly the first thing you should do is to take your new pet to the vet for a check over. Your vet will advise you on how to look after your dog and tell you what vaccinations and shots it will need to have.

Nearly all dogs need regular exercise and you will have to schedule some time everyday top take your dog for its “walk”. Ideally you should try and walk your dog at least twice a day at regular times.

Other skills you will have to learn is how and when to bath your dogs and how to treat it for fleas and other parasites. Just like humans dogs may well need dental treatment.

Your dog is going to become part of your family and as such will give you loyalty and affection. You in turn will have the responsibility for making your dogs life as pleasant ands enjoyable as possible.
